Rogan O’Donnell

Clinical Mental Health Clinician | Entrepreneur | Creator | Documentarian | Advocate

Rogan O’Donnell is the visionary behind InhuMAINE and the Founder of Common Ground Friends, a nonprofit that launched Maine’s first licensed Intensive Outpatient Program in partnership with a homeless shelter.

With decades of experience in recovery, advocacy, and community mental health, Rogan brings both lived experience and clinical expertise to his work. Trained in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, he bridges the worlds of counseling, storytelling, and social justice—transforming narrative into a catalyst for systemic change. His work challenges stigma, amplifies unheard voices, and calls for collective responsibility in addressing homelessness and mental illness.

Rogan O’Donnell MS is the creator and documentarian of InhuMAINE, a feature-length film that bears witness to the homelessness crisis in Bangor, Maine. Developed over 19 months, the documentary weaves together lived experience, narrative advocacy, and applied clinical training to spotlight the humanity, resilience, and systemic inequities at the heart of this crisis. InhuMAINE has been recognized at film festivals, academic conferences, and professional gatherings, including the Maine International Film Festival and the Maine Mental Health Counselors Association Conference.

Beyond filmmaking, Rogan is the Founder of Common Ground Friends, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that opened Maine’s first licensed behavioral and mental health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) within a homeless shelter in collaboration with Mid Maine Shelter. He brings more than three decades of recovery, lived experience, and leadership in behavioral health and housing initiatives, including the creation of innovative recovery housing programs and advocacy at the state and national levels.

Rogan integrates existential humanistic, holistic, and person-centered approaches into both clinical practice and creative work. His career reflects a consistent theme: using story to dismantle stigma, amplify marginalized voices, and build pathways of healing and hope.
