Homeless encampment cleared out in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – The homeless encampment along the railroad tracks behind Penobscot Plaza in Bangor has been completely cleared out as of Monday.

CSX, the company that owns the property that part of the encampment sat on, indicated earlier this month cleanup would happen Monday.

According to a Bangor city official, most if not all of the people who were staying there left over the weekend.

Charles Badger, who has been homeless for more than a year, on Friday said he doesn’t know where to go after he leaves the encampment along the railroad tracks but that he will spend Friday night at the Together Place. “The city did give us almost a month to move, but at the same time, we have no place to go,” Badger said.
